The global crisis due to the growing spread of the dreaded SARS-CoV-2 virus has perhaps left us unprepared and with an important need: Staying at home as much as possible, and it is more than a way to protect ourselves against Covid-19 infection, it is a moral obligation to society to do our bit and avoid possible contagion.

But the main problem is that these forced vacations from the obligations we have in the outside world also bring with them the fact that not leaving the house can become extremely exhausted, and take away our sanity that is not quite right thanks to the collective stress caused by this new coronavirus.

And that is especially dangerous, since not finding what to do in confinement in our residence makes it too great a temptation to ignore international recommendations, which have been shown to be effective.

Therefore , knowing how important it is to stay distracted in these weeks of closure in our residence, I bring you some recommendations to keep your mind busy during this quarantine.

Things to distract and occupy the mind in quarantine

The best way to stay calm at home is to distract our minds, to get away not only from the stress of the economic and public health uncertainty we are facing, but also to get something out of this voluntary confinement.

    Organize your cloud

You finally have that free time you’ve been waiting for! And I guarantee you that unless you have Obsessive Compulsive Disorder you have a mess in your mail and “cloud” apps, put them together and you have a great way to keep your life a little more organized.

Interact with the outside world online.

This does not imply filling your head with news that will surely intoxicate your mind, it is about contacting old friends on social networks who you have not seen for a while and who are surely looking for someone to talk to, you can try an application that involves playing with them to share even if it is virtually.

    Read a book

It can be something about personal growth or perhaps a novel about how someone survived an apocalypse due to a virus (believe me there are too many on the market), the truth is that this time will help you relax. If you don’t have the habit of reading, it’s a good time to start, we recommend starting with a few pages a day (8-15 pages a day)

Video or Movies streaming and chill

Some of the providers of these services (the most famous are platforms such as Youtube, Netflix and Amazon Videos among others) have placed special packages for their customers so that they can stay at home and enjoy a pleasant time watching series or movies.

    Exercise

One of the main recommendations in the face of the possible sedentary lifestyle that we have at home is to do simple exercise routines, which will make our body naturally produce endorphins that will keep us in a better mood.

This also includes yoga and meditation! Healthy mind, healthy body.

Improve your skills or learn something new.

Learning a language or taking an online course are excellent alternatives. We can recommend apps like Duolingo or visit Youtube channels, where you will find different languages and various courses from very basic to advanced and the best thing is that they are free.

A video game will always be good

The best would be games where you can talk to other players (to compensate for the fact that you interact with few people) although if what distracts you is enjoying some time alone playing because there is nothing else to do.

The only thing is that you must be careful not to use all the options at once, the issue is to have a balance, a lot of study consumes you, many video games tire you mentally and the WHO is not a fan of you using your phone so much, also as long as you keep your routine varied, how can you get bored?

Follow some of these recommendations to lower the level of stress we carry and also distract yourself during this forced confinement.
